Spyware is still an important issue we all have to deal with. When you become complacent spyware becomes active.
I am still reviewing several spyware management packages. Spyware Doctor by PC Tools, has proved to be a very good product with only one hitch I can find so far, and that is your need for a FAST computer to utilise 'OnGuard Protection'. OnGuard protects your computer while you are working, monitoring and watching for any suspicious activity etc., a great function to have but it does have a significant impact on your CPU usage. So if your computer is around 3.2Gig with at least 1 Gig of RAM then go for it.

The Democrats' information technology spokesperson, Brian Greig, said today the Spyware Bill 2005 was not designed to ban spyware or other unauthorised installations but to require companies to obtain permission from the owner of the computer before proceeding. >>> more

Nearly all malware is spyware: Panda
Around 90 percent of malware found on both home and corporate PCs is spyware, according to Internet security firm Panda Software.
Panda said it arrived at the figure after analysing data gathered from an online scanning utility. Chief technology officer Patrick Hinojosa said similar studies had found that around 90 percent of computers are infested with spyware.
"Spyware is installed by many different methods and the infection is not usually visible to the user. These factors increase the infection rate for this type of malware," said Hinojosa.
Panda's findings do not surprise James Turner, security analyst at Frost & Sullivan, who said one of the difficulties when calculating spyware infestation was defining what was spyware and what was not.
